Biography
Raised in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Jackie Potenzone is a city woman with a huge small town heart. Jackie’s career as a hair stylist began at Blaine Hair School in Boston’s Kenmore Square. After graduating from hair school in 1991, Jackie began working at Frank Michaels Hair Salon in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Jackie remained at Frank Michaels until she opened Jackie and Company Hair Salon on April 19, 2001.
While Jackie’s career began at Blaine, her childhood inspired her passion for hair styling. Many of Jackie’s relatives worked as hair dressers and barbers. As a child, Jackie enjoyed visiting her aunt Chris’s home hair salon in Chelsea. Some of Jackie’s fondest memories come from watching her aunt style hair while clients sat in Chris’s salon.
Jackie’s favorite part of hair dressing is that it allows her to be creative. For Jackie, each up-do, color, and cut is like an individual work of art. At Jackie and Company Hair Salon, clients receive hair styles that are tailored to their personal life style. Before each client leaves the salon, Jackie takes time to make sure that he or she can replicate the style at home. Since Jackie’s salon is based in her home, she is able to offer flexible appointment times for all of her clients.
Jackie’s hair philosophy is that when you look good, you feel good. She can change a person’s whole outlook on life with a good hair do. One particularly touching experience for Jackie occurred when she shaved the head of a female client that was about to undergo chemotherapy. Jackie used her personal touch to show the client a wonderful time during a difficult moment. Jackie is also proud that many of her first customers at Jackie and Company are still regular clients.
Jackie is registered as both a Cosmetologist and a Cosmetology Instructor in the state of Massachusetts. Jackie has taught in Cosmetology programs at Blaine Hair School in Malden and Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough. When she is not doing hair, Jackie enjoys gardening, crocheting, reading, and entertaining. She and her husband Ralph live in Hopkinton with their three children, Katie, Andrew, Ryan, and dogs Daisy, Coco and Ginger.
